Tron 3 Is Officially Shut Off — Disney Will Not Be Continuing The Olivia Wilde & Garrett Hedlund Franchise

Disney is totally off the grid — or rather, over the grid.

Despite a rather impressive box office performance back in 2010, it looks like Tron: Legacy won’t be getting a sequel after all.

The Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde follow up to the 1982 original was reportedly set to start filming in Canada this Fall, but now those plans are officially scrapped.

Joseph Kosinski‘s Legacy made over $400 million during its run, so we’re a little surprised to hear that the House of Mouse aren’t as confident with more installments.

Although, that might have something to do with George Clooney‘s Tomorrowland underperforming in theaters making back only $33 million of the film’s $180 million budget in its first week.

The unnamed Tron 3 was set to additionally star Olivia Munn, with Jared Leto in talks for a role, but those characters shall never get to see the light of day, it seems.

Unless of course, Legacy somehow becomes a cult classic and gets upgraded two decades from now…

It’s already happened once!
