The Cosby Show star did not enter a plea, and was released on $1 million bail.

For this upcoming trial, more than 50 women who have accused Cosby of assault could testify against him.

Although some of these allegations are past the statute of limitations, they could still be used as witnesses to establish Constand’s credibility, as well as the 78-year-old’s pattern of behavior.

According to Gloria Allred who represents 29 of these women:

“I do imagine that it will be a very very vigorous cross examination of any women who may be called as witnesses, who may be called because they have alleged similar conduct by Mr Cosby. I think many of these women have indicated they are prepared to do that. They are going to demonstrate that kind of courage and tell their truth. They will be ready and they know they have a duty to participate if they are subpoenaed.”

If convicted, Cosby can face up to 10 years in prison.
