Fresh off a 40-point performance to help the Lakers defeat the Brooklyn Nets’ LeBron James brought everyone back to reality with a reminder retirement is near.

Last season, LeBron James carried the Los Angeles Lakers to the Western Conference finals only to be swept by the Denver Nuggets. However, the story after the game wasn’t about the sweep it was LeBron James hinting at retirement in his post-game interview.

He didn’t retire but the world was officially on notice the final days of the King’s greatness have arrived

According to ESPN, LeBron was asked how much longer he will play and admitted it’s almost over so appreciate it while you still can.

“Not very long. I’m on the other side of the heel. I’m not going to play another 21 years. That’s for damn sure. Not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I retire, but I don’t have much time left.”- LeBron told reporters after his season high performance.

James claims he’s conflicted about doing a farewell tour before exiting the league. Unfortunately, his time frame to decide on a farewell tour is seemingly running out. He holds the scoring record,  four championships, four MVPs, and has nothing left to prove. He has been vocal about his desire to play with sons Bronny and Bryce.

However, if he changes his mind and retires, he has earned the right to do so without backlash. King James has been an employee in the National Basketball Association for half the time he’s been alive. If anyone is deserving of an extended vacation away from the court it’s the King.
