This would’ve been awful!
Jennifer Aniston was one of the greatest parts of the ensemble cast on the show Friends but a recent admission by the actress makes it seem as if her part was almost replaced at one point!
The revelation happened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this past Friday when the actress who played Rachel Green on the show said:
“Friends came when I was off doing Muddling Through. So there was a period where I had to stand out of the photographs for the group shots, and I had phone calls from girlfriends saying, ‘I’m auditioning for your part in Friends.’ “
Jennifer Aniston was worried the show Muddling Through would become a hit after she landed the role on Friends and her part would be replaced but the producers took a chance on their belief that Muddling Through would fail which it did after three months. Jennifer said:
“They just took the chance that Muddling Through would fail after the two episodes they picked it up for. And so I just started doing this back-and-forth from Sony to Warner Bros. for two weeks.”
Close call there!
Jennifer also revealed another interesting tidbit about how the producers almost gave her the role of Monica which eventually was played by Courteney Cox. She said:
“They wanted Courteney [Cox] to play Rachel. And unbeknownst to each other, I wanted to play Rachel and she wanted to play Monica. It worked out perfectly.”
It really did work out perfectly!
And in the process the show gave us a lot of years of laughter from these wonderfully put together cast!
We’re so glad that show Muddling Through held true its name, ha!
