Oh no you didn’t!

Anna Kendrick let it be known to the Twitter-verse when she heard the news that Independence Day 2 recast and replaced Mae Whitman, who played the President’s daughter in the first flick, with the It Follows star Maika Monroe.

Kendrick came to the defense of her home-girl and former Scott Pilgrim co-star, Miz Whitman, by tweeting this NSFW message:

Mae Whitman didn’t say much on the subject, but she did retweet Kendrick’s outrage as well as a separate article concerning the recast. We’re betting she’s not too happy about the decision either.

In the sequel the character of Patricia, the former first daughter, will be playing the romantic interest to Liam Hemsworth, the leading hero of the film *swoon*. Hemsworth will have to help fill the void left by Will Smith not returning to the sequel. But what makes Whitman’s absence upsetting is several other actors from the original ARE coming back including, Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, and Bill Pullman.

So this begs the question, why is Maika replacing Mae, especially after Mae recently was the lead in the hit flick, The Duff, and killed it.
