Alec Baldwin Takes A Couple Tries To Defend His Relationship With Accused Sexual Predators James Toback & Roman Polanski!

Alec Baldwin is distancing himself from accused Hollywood pervs.

The Saturday Night Live regular got some heat this week after a picture circulated on Twitter of him breaking bread with James Toback and Roman Polanski, two notable filmmakers who have been accused of sexual harassment and assault.

The photo, taken at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, received attention after being shared by Harvey Weinstein accuser Asia Argento, who wrote:

In a response to Argento’s tweet, the 30 Rock star tried to play dumb about the filmmaker’s predatory reputations — but that didn’t go so well:

Whoops. OK, take two!

Days after his reply backfired, the Emmy-winner issued a longer, more thought out response in an interview with the L.A. Times, where he spoke on his “positively business” relationship with Toback.

When asked about the recent allegations on Toback, the actor claimed he didn’t know the details of the director’s icky behavior with women — because they just didn’t talk about that stuff! He explained:

“In all the time I’ve known Jimmy, I never had one conversation about his sex life, which is not unusual for me because I’m not sitting down with some guy and he’s saying to me, ‘Man, you should have seen what I did last night with this girl in this hotel.’ I don’t go there.”

Hmmm. Sounds like a great way to avoid being guilty by association.

Baldwin has worked with Toback — who has recently been accused of harassment by over 300 women, including Selma Blair and Rachel McAdams — in multiple films, including his most recent The Private Life of a Modern Woman.

While Baldwin wasn’t privy to the dirty details of the disgraced director’s behavior, he wasn’t totally in the dark about it either. He added:

“He had an appetite for going up to women and saying salacious and provocative things to them and introducing himself with his credentials and so forth, and laying that on people to seduce them. I never knew any details of what he did that was assault in nature or rape in nature or criminally actionable. Never, never, never.”

Baldwin says he has spoken with Toback, who he calls “one of the smartest” and “cleverest” people he knows, since the accusations have come out, adding:

“He’s obviously crushed by all of this. I did call him, and I think he understands how people are. There’s not much people can do for him now.”

Now it’s starting to make sense why all these Hollywood dirtbags were able to abuse their power for so long. All their colleagues simply turned the other way!

We don’t see any of Toback’s friends coming to his rescue anytime soon.
