This is tragic!

America Idol alum Joanne Borgella has passed away at the extremely young age of 32 this past Saturday on October 18th.

Joanne died after a lengthy fight with a rare case of endometrial cancer – something she was diagnosed with only a year ago.

The news was announced by Joanne’s family through the artist’s Facebook page.

Here’s what they wrote:

“To God be the glory!
With heavy hearts, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Joanne.
On Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 5:45AM, Joanne Borgella Ramirez was called by the Lord to heaven.
At an early age, Joanne made a choice to serve and trust the Lord; and since her diagnosis over a year ago, Joanne made a choice to also be a fighter and share her journey with the world. Her faith, courage and strength were unshaken throughout every obstacle she encountered. Although our family is suffering with this great loss, we find comfort in the closeness Joanne shared with the Lord. We know her spirit still shines and will continue to live on in heaven.”

The approximate time of Joanne Borgella’s death was at 5:45AM, and the family has asked the public to consider educating themselves on endometrial cancer – a cancer that starts in the lining of a woman’s uterus.

This is so sad, and our condolences go out to Joanne’s family and loved ones during this grief filled time of their lives.

Hopefully they’ll be able to raise money or awareness about this awful illness that took away Joanne way too soon, and possibly prevent such a tragedy from happening to other women in the future.

Joanne started her career on reality music television back in 2005 on Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance where she was the first winner before finishing in the top 12 on the seventh season of American Idol.

This talented woman left us way too soon.
