Rod Stewart Mercilessly Shades Elton John's Tour Retirement Announcement: 'It Stinks Of Selling Tickets'

Wednesday night’s alright for fighting!

At least it is when Rod Stewart is on Watch What Happens Live and is asked to share his thoughts on Elton John‘s tour retirement — or, according to Stewart, “retirement.”

The music legend had no problem giving his longtime rival a teasing after a caller asked what he thought of the Circle of Life singer’s recent announcement.

The 73-year-old told Andy Cohen the tactic “stinks of selling tickets,” noting this likely wouldn’t be Elton’s final bow from the stage in the end.

And like a true frenemy, Stewart had already directly shaded his longtime rival about the decision. He admitted:

“I did email her and said, ‘What, again dear?’ And I didn’t hear anything back.”

Ha! FYI, Stewart calls Elton Sharon, and Elton calls him Phyllis.

While Stewart may not agree on Elton’s final tour announcement, he at least understands why the piano-playing legend stormed off stage at a recent Las Vegas show.
